  To get voter registration information, first go to the state homepage for where your subject resides. Then, go to the correct county page. From there, it should be easy to find the address and phone number of the Board Of Elections.

Note: Voter Registration Information is a matter of public record and is available upon written request. There is usually a nominal fee for this information. You may write to the county where you expect your subject will be registered. You can also, for example, request the voter information for each person with a certain last name, which may be especially helpful in locating someone if the last name is unusual.

Information included with the voter registration information might include an unlisted phone number, birth date or a social security number, in addition to the address information. Most voter registration departments will search back a number of years for your subject. The rules for obtaining this sort of information and how much information is given out are always changing. Sometimes, if you say that you need the information for research purposes and send the required fee with a photocopy of your driver's license, people will be more cooperative about giving you this kind of information by mail.
